James DaSilva Obituary
James L. DaSilva, 75, of Naugatuck, husband of Patricia (Humphries) DaSilva, entered into peaceful rest while surrounded in the love of his devoted daughters on October 5, 2025 at Waterbury Hospital. Jim was born on April 30, 1950 in Fall River, MA, son of the late Ayers DaSilva and Mary (Cabral) DaSilva.
Jim proudly served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard. He spent his early years working in the retail industry as a manager for Bradlees department stores and later in life as a finance manager in the automobile industry until his retirement.
Not one to sit still for long, he enjoyed working as a ranger at his beloved Hop Brook Golf Course, where he enjoyed mastering his golf craft and abusing his authority in getting others to speedily move along with their game. Despite ruling with an iron fist, he made many dear friends on the golf course who will no doubt remember him for his sarcastic wit and outgoing personality. Proud of his status as a registered notary, he looked for any opportunity to brandish his stamp.
A gambler at heart, Jim also enjoyed his close to daily excursions to OTB where he would place his maximum twenty dollar "high stakes" bets. Trips to the casino were also high up on his to-do list.
In his younger years, Jim had a passion for outdoor activities that suited his never-sit-still demeanor, including drag racing his treasured 1968 Chevy Camaro RS, hitting the trails of High Rock on his dirt bike with his daughters in tow, as well as hunting, fishing and target shooting.
Jim was passionate about his family excursions. He loved his trips to the beaches in Rhode Island especially Narragansett. He was prone to surprising his family by turning a weekend drive into a detour to an amusement park or other CT attractions. Later in life, he made a point every summer of visiting Lake Compounce with all of his grandchildren, where he appeared to enjoy the rides every bit as much as they did if not more. His ideal end to the day was a bowl of chocolate ice cream, or perhaps a piece of chocolate cake, with a handful of M&M's (all of which he would never share). Jim leaves a treasure trove of precious memories to be cherished by all.
Jim is survived by his daughters Lori DaSilva- Fiano (Sabato) of Fairfield and Tracy DaSilva (William) of Prospect, his wife Patricia (Humphries) DaSilva, his cherished grandchildren Brianna Faulkner, Paul James Pronovost, Alyssa Gillies and Isabella Fiano, his brother William DaSilva of IL, his sister Mary DaSilva of Woodbury, his former spouse and mother of his children Dianne DaSilva and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother Robert DaSilva.
