Earlier today

"My condolences, Kathy....I am so sorry to hear about the loss of, Jim. My heart goes out to you..." We worked together many years at P&WA Assembly / Test, and later at Technical Publications where he was a well regarded Supervisor.

James was my big brother, 9 years older than I. My favorite memory was riding on the back of his Cushman motor scooter by the waffle wall near red bridge. I will miss him and his humor.

James, or Jimmy as I knew him, was my eldest cousin. He was 15 years older than I, so we weren't exactly contemporaries, but I remember when he was stationed in El Paso, Texas, while in the army. When he returned I saw him often at family gatherings, especially while he and his family lived in my grandmother's old house on Avery Avenue in Meriden, at the other end of my parents' lot. It was always an enjoyable time getting together with the Hayes clan!
One interesting note: My father somehow ended up with Jim's army duffel bag, which Dad kept our camping tent and poles in. I just checked in our attic, and verified that the duffel bag we keep our tent and poles in is the same one, stenciled with his name: JAMES B HAYES. I am glad to have known Jimmy, and to have the bag as a remembrance of him.
My condolences and sympathy to Cindy and the rest of Jim's family.
