Jay Gano Obituary

COLEBROOK – Jay R. Gano, 79, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025. He was the loving husband of Patti (Jacobs) Gano for 44 years. Born October 26, 1945 in Bronxville, New York; the son of the late Albert and Virginia (Richmond) Borden. Jay enjoyed the outdoors especially kayaking and hiking. He loved vacationing and exploring the National Parks, working on his 1966 Corvette and spending time with his family. He also loved riding his Harley and in October every year on his birthday enjoyed riding it into the next year. In addition to his wife, Patti, he leaves his daughter, Jennifer Turney and husband Jason of New Hartford; granddaughters, Kayci and Abby Coon of New Hartford; great granddaughter, Evelyn; sister, Sue Blackwell of NC; mother-in-law, Sandra Jacobs of Winsted; brother-in-law, Jim (Liz) Jacobs of NV; sisters-in-law, Merri Marsh of Winsted, Charlene Jacobs (Tom Lavieri) of Winsted, Darlene (Bret) Walberg of AZ and Cheryl Swift of NY; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Bob (Diana) Gano and John Borden; father-in-law, Maynard Jacobs and brothers-in-law, Johnny Blackwell and Skip Marsh. Services will be private. Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main Street, Winsted has care of the arrangements. Visit an online guestbook at montano-shea.com. I always remember Jay whenever I went to the YMCA and his window washing with Mattie. Sad to learn of his passing...
