Jeffery L. Porter, 59, of Bristol, formerly of Plainville, passed away after a short illness on Monday, August 18, 2025 at the Hospital of Central CT- New Britain General Campus.
Jeff was born on May 3, 1966 in Bristol, son to Gloria (Beauregard) Porter and the late Ralph Porter. Jeff graduated from Plainville High School, where he showcased his strong character and determination playing varsity football for the Blue Devils. Following his graduation, he answered the call of duty and honorably served in the United States Navy as a hospital corpsman.
After his honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy, Jeff returned to civilian life with a thirst for knowledge and a drive to build a fulfilling career. He pursued an associate's degree in computer engineering, ultimately finding his niche as an IT specialist at Zygo Corporation in Middlefield, CT. His expertise and dedication made a significant impact on his colleagues and the work he so passionately engaged in.
An avid hiker, he often found comfort in nature's embrace, walking distant trails that nourished his spirit. His enthusiasm for fitness was palpable; whether he was lifting weights or challenging himself on his Peloton, Jeff approached life with vigor and determination. He approached health with a personal commitment, choosing a Carnivore diet that reflected his enthusiasm for nutrition. In the kitchen, Jeff loved crafting delightful dishes that not only satisfied hunger but also nourished the soul, but he was known for boldly embracing his cravings for beef and broccoli.
He found joy in the simple pleasures of life; an avid Red Sox fan, riding the saltwater shores in his beloved Jeep Wrangler - Sahara - was a cherished escape that brought him closer to the ocean's vast beauty. Jeff's time by the shore was a testament to his love for the earth and the tranquility it brought him.
In addition to his mother, Gloria Porter, Jeff is survived by his partner, Fiona Lyons; his brother, Shawn Porter and his wife, Paula; and his cherished nephew and niece, Kyle and Daniella Porter. He is now reunited with his brother, Christopher Porter, his father, Ralph Porter, and his many four-legged companions that he had through the years.
