Joan Clark Obituary
It is with broken hearts that we announce that Joan M. Clark (93) passed
away unexpectantly, but peacefully, on April 23, 2025, supported with love by her
family. Joan was born in Flushing, NY, the oldest of 3 along with her brothers
Robert and Edward. She was the popular cheerleader in high school, never missing
a prom and leading quite the social life. She also loved playing tennis and bowling.
She left college early to marry our dad, Bill. In succession came our family:
Kathy (Joe), Kerry, Bill (Sue) and Chris (Rick). Mom was very busy raising our
family but also had time for many volunteer activities including the 58 Club of
Simsbury, FAVARH, Simsbury Visiting Nurse, Amazing Grace Pantry of
Middletown and many more. She spent summers at Point O'Woods beach Old
Lyme which became a favorite gathering place for our family.
Our mom was the absolute best – a kind spirit who saw the good in
everyone. Known for dropping a pearl of wisdom that was funny to everyone but
her. She was warm, funny and had deep connections with people from all walks of
life. Joan had an incredible impact on all who came into contact with her. Her
smile lit up a room and she always projected light and positivity. She was a bargain
shopper till the end and couldn't resist a good coupon. She treasured her friends,
especially Joan and Harry Ritson and the entire Ritson clan.
She was also a woman of deep faith and resilience despite much personal
loss and heartache. She was predeceased by her husband Bill, her son Bill and her
brother Fr. Bob Washa. She never missed church and was always reminding us
when the Holy Days were.
She will be deeply missed by her 7 grandchildren: Jim (Archana), Kristen
(Rob), Ryan, Haley, Casey (Cameron), Adam (Janaina) and Jaime (Aaron). She
lived long enough to meet and play with 5 great-grandkids, Elle, Lily and Mia
Davis, and Nora and Luca Tedone who all loved their Gigi.
We want to express our heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Residence at Ferry
Park assisted living facility for treating her like family for the time she lived there.
Calling hours will be held at Cromwell Funeral Home, 506 Main St,
Cromwell, CT on April 30 from 5:00 -7:00 pm. The funeral service will be held
May 1, 2025 at 10:30 am at St. Pius X Church, 310 Westfield St, Middletown
followed by a burial at the South Burying Grounds in Kensington. In lieu of flowers,
donations may be made to Amazing Grace Pantry 16 Stack St, Middletown, CT 06457.

We love you Mom. We heard that there is unlimited chardonnay in a box in
heaven. Raise a glass with Dad and Bill. We miss you all.
