Joan Rose Romano

Joan Rose (Chauvin)Romano Joan passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025. Joan was born on May 5, 1934 in Holyoke MA to Napoleon (Sam) and Rose Berneche Chauvin. Joan graduated from Cathedral High School and later worked as a paralegal. After marrying her husband John Romano Jr in 1959 they started Romano's Beef and Provisions in 1961, which they successfully ran together until his death in 1979. Joan enjoyed spending summers at Hampton Beach, gardening in her yard, meeting friends at the Elk's club, and watching her UConn Women's Huskies. Later in life she enjoyed camping, traveling and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Romano, Jr. and by her second husband Jules (Sonny) Plouffe. She leaves behind five daughters, Michelle Wade, Joanne Brunette, Lisa Romano, Renee Schools, and Amy Romano. Also, two sons-in-law, David Brunette and Brett Schools, (preceded in death by her son-in-law William Wade). Additionally, she leaves behind thirteen grandchildren, Courtney Watson (Tim), Brittany Green (Kenneth)Chelsea Adams (Dan), Jonathan Brunette, Mark Brunette, Hilary Kelting (Steve), Jessica Paige (Steve), Jackie Lynch (Michael), Nicole Callahan (Joshua), Kaylee Schools, John Stephens (Jessica), Carey (CJ) Stephens and Harper Stephens. And, also sixteen beloved great grandchildren. She is survived by her brother Robert Chauvin, her sister Linda Gebhart and numerous nieces and nephews. Joan was a strong, fun, adventurous, loving mother, sister, and friend who will be missed by many. The family would like to express their sincere thanks for the care Joan received while at The All American.
