Joann Narkis

SOUTHBURY Joann G. Narkis "Beloved wife, mother, grandmother & sister" Joann Narkis, 85, of Southbury, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 5, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Robert J. Narkis for 50 years. Joann was born in Port Allegheny, PA, on January 13, 1940, a daughter to the late John M. and Nica (Papageorge) Georgetson. A brilliant educator, Joann taught in the Southbury and Regional Public High Schools for 28 years, and was known for her dedication and creativity – a "risk taker who was not afraid to improvise." Joann loved traveling and enjoyed books, bridge, theater and the opera. Her cooking was often inspired, and she entertained, as in all things, with great style. Besides her beloved husband Bob, of Southbury, Joann is survived by four children, John C. Kachulis of Stamford, Dean C. Kachulis and his wife Edith of Waterbury, Kim K. Canavan of Brooklyn, NY, and Sally G. Narkis of Westfield, NJ. She also leaves behind two siblings, Michael Georgetson and Anna Georgetson, both of Waterbury, and three grandchildren, Nicholas Canavan, Zoe Canavan, and Dimitri Potamousis. Arrangements: A traditional Greek Orthodox Funeral Litergy will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 937 Chase Parkway, Waterbury. Burial will follow at Middlebury Cemetery in Middlebury. There will be no calling hours. Everyone is kindly asked to meet directly at church Wednesday morning. Chase Parkway Memorial, The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, has been entrusted with handling Joann's funeral arrangements.
