Joanne M. Quinto

Joanne M. Quinto, 76, of North Haven, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025, at Yale New Haven Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Frank A. Quinto. Joanne was born in New Haven on April 17, 1948, and was the daughter of the late Ernie and Mary Valente Malavasi and the daughter-in-law to the late Frank and Margaret Quinto. Joanne graduated from St. Mary's High School in New Haven in 1966 and later went on to receive her Master's Degree in education at Southern Connecticut State University. For 35 years, she was an elementary school teacher in New Haven and North Branford until her retirement. Over the years, Joanne organized the local Toys for Tots drives and volunteered with the Special Olympics. She enjoyed shopping, vacationing with her husband, book club, and having lunch with friends. Her greatest joy, however, was spending time with her grandchildren, who she loved unconditionally. In addition to her husband of 52 years, Joanne is survived by her children, Amanda (Christian) DeForno and Scott (Kristy) Quinto, and grandchildren, Marlena and Evan Quinto and Vivian DeForno. She is also survived by her brother Ernie (Mary Jane) Malavasi and sister-in-law, Maria (Steve) Carpenter, as well as many friends and cousins. The visiting hours will be Friday, January 17, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A catholic funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home at 12:00 PM. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
