Jose Luis Montanez

Jose Luis Montañez, best known as "Shorty" or "Chegui", 53, beloved husband of Yaritza Silva, passed away on Thursday July 3, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in the Bronx, NY on October 21, 1971, he was the son of Jose Ramon and Edna Iris (Rivera) Montañez. Jose was a longtime Meriden resident. He attended Theodore Rosevelt High School in the Bronx. He was employed by Service Masters Cleaners as a supervisor with over 16 years of service. He was a member of Iglesia Cara a Cara con Dios in Meriden. He loved fishing, was an avid Yankee Fan and enjoyed BBQ cookouts with his family and friends. He was always the life of the party and will always be remembered for his friendship, kindness and his ways of making everyone laugh. Beside his wife Yari of 32 years and his parents, he is survived by his seven sons; Jose Montañez, Louis Montañez, Francisco Garcia, Michael Garcia, Kenny Garcia, Luis J. Montañez and Luis Y. Montañez; four grandchildren; two sisters; Maybeliz Colon and Lizbeth Vazquez and one brother, Juan R. Montañez. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, July 10th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, CT 06450.
