Joseph Piccolo Jr.

WATERBURY, CT Joseph Piccolo, Jr. "Beloved husband, father, poppy, great grandfather and brother" Mr. Joseph Piccolo, Jr., 87, entered into the gates of Heaven on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at St. Mary's Hospital, Vitas Unit, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Marie (LaVigne) Piccolo for 60 years before her passing in 2022. Joseph was born in Waterbury, CT on September 11, 1937, the youngest son of the late Giuseppe and Gaetana (Palmieri) Piccolo. He was a graduate of Wilby High School and earned his degree in accounting from The University of Connecticut. He was employed as an actuarialist in the insurance industry for over 50 years. Joe was an active parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Church and a man of strong faith. Joe most enjoyed spending time with Marie, as they attended every sporting event, awards ceremony, graduation, birthday and special occasion for their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was an avid UCONN basketball fan, fisherman, hunter, wine maker and especially enjoyed sharing his recliner with his faithful companion Bandit. Left to cherish Joe's memory are his four children and their families, Joseph Piccolo III and partner Mary Kisinger and his children Alex and Clarissa of Fitzwilliam, NH; Lorraine Sbabo and her husband, Donald, and their children Donald, Nicholas and Benjamin of North Haven; Karen Dopp and her husband, Lee, of Southbury and her children Taryn Porzio and fiancé Brian Burke of Annapolis, MD and Vinnie Porzio and wife Suzy of Mashpee, MA, and their children Domenic and Francesca; Alan Piccolo and his wife Gina of Prospect and their children Andrea and fiancé Jake Boncal, Carla and partner Justin Krawec, and Mia; and sister in law Joanne Scursso and husband Joseph of Southington. In addition to his wife and parents, Joe was predeceased by his siblings Andrew, Anthony, Nicolina, Salvatore, Giovannina, and Carmella. In Joe's memory, donations can be made to Vitas Inpatient Hospice Unit, St. Mary's Hospital, 199 Park Road Extension, Suite 102, Middlebury, CT 06762. Arrangements: A Mass of Christian Burial with the cremains present will be held at 10:00 a.m. on March 8 at St. Francis Xavier Church, 625 Baldwin Street, Waterbury. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the Church. There are no calling hours.
