Joy Murawski Obituary

Joy N. Murawski, 80, of Ellington, CT, passed away peacefully at home on February 27, 2025, with her devoted husband by her side. Born on July 13, 1944, in Ossining, NY, she was the daughter of the late Velma (Slater) Mackey. Joy graduated from Ossining High School in 1962 and soon after met the love of her life, Michael Murawski, while he was serving in the U.S. Navy. The two married on September 17, 1966, in New York and built a beautiful life together in Connecticut. Michael dedicated his career to the East Hartford Fire Department, while Joy worked as a secretary for United Technologies Research Center and other firms. A woman of grace and vibrancy, Joy found immense joy in listening to her beloved 1960s rock and roll music, dancing, and gardening. She and Michael shared a passion for travel, exploring destinations across the country, including cherished trips from the West Coast to Hawaii. In retirement, they continued their adventures, treasuring each moment together. Through it all, Michael remained her devoted caregiver, ensuring she was surrounded by love and comfort. Joy took great pride in keeping an impeccable home, creating a warm and welcoming space filled with love and beauty. Her attention to detail and dedication to her home reflected the same care and devotion she showed in every aspect of her life. She is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Michael Murawski; her twin sister, Janice Fuentes of Croton-on-Hudson, NY; several nieces and nephews; and dear friends who will forever cherish her kindness, warmth, and joyful spirit. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Donald Mackey; her sister, June Fasciani; as well as two nephews and a niece. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 9:00 AM at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield, CT. Mike, I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your beloved Joy. In the sharing of your many stories of the two of you around the kitchen table at headquarters, one thing was always prominent was the love you two shared for each other.
Rest in eternal peace and warmth Joy.
