Judith Anderson Obituary
Judith "Judy" Anderson (Johnson), 89, of Vernon, beloved daughter of Earnest Elmer and Ruth Irene (Emmons) Johnson, passed away peacefully after a brief illness.
She leaves behind her daughter Debra Hayler (Anderson), of Vernon, her much loved granddaughter Katerina Parache (Anderson) and great-granddaughter Marianna Parache of Hyannis, Mass., Others she held close in her heart include her nieces Tina Johnson, Judy Nutting (Bentley), and Tammy Crisp (Johnson), nephew Thomas Bentley, daughter-in-law Brenda C. Anderson, and cousins Rev. Dr. Douglas Johnson of North Carolina, Sandra Fuoco, Harold Sanden, and Roy Sanden. She is pre-deceased by her husband George "Andy" Anderson, son Richard, grandson Gunnar, sister Joan Bentley (Johnson), brothers Butch and Bobbie Johnson.
Judy was born in Springfield, Mass. and raised in East Hartford where she graduated from East Hartford High. After marriage she and Andy settled in Vernon.
Prior to her retirement she was the paymaster for the Vernon Board of Education for many years.
Her fondest memories were two trips to England, the first for her daughter's wedding and second to celebrate the millennium four years later. She enjoyed jet skiing with her cousin's sons, and the adventure of riding up MT Washington in a side-by-side. She and her daughter spent many weekends taking rides just anywhere to pass the time. The shore was always a special place for them both. Judy loved sports and never missed a UConn Women's basketball or Yankee's game. Being very proud of her Swedish heritage she, her daughter, and niece Tina often attended the SAC PARK Midsommer Festival located in Shrewsbury, Mass.
Judy's greatest comfort was her church where she had many friends who called one another every day. Although she was unable to attend in recent years, she had wonderful memories of her time with the ladies of Ruth Circle at Emanuel Lutheran in Manchester.
She was loved by her daughter, son, grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews very much. To many others she was a cherished second mom.
A service of celebration will be held at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 60 Chestnut Street, Manchester followed by burial at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 453 Fairfield Avenue, Hartford on Saturday, May 3rd at 11am.
