Katherine (Carter) Obituary

Katherine J. (Carter) Preston, 78, of Johnstown, NY, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025, at Apple Rehab of Farmington Valley in Plainville, CT. Born on May 21, 1947, in Gloversville, NY, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Lura (Rossiter) Carter. Katherine dedicated much of her life to helping others through her work. She was employed at Johnstown Hospital from 1980 until its closure in 1988. She then joined the School & Business Alliance from 1988 to 1990 before finishing her career at Mountain Valley Hospice from 1990 until her retirement in 2016. Her commitment to her work and community left a lasting impact on those she served. She is survived by her son Ralph L. Preston and significant other, Cindy Kuzniak of Broadalbin, NY; two daughters and a son-in-law, Rebecca Preston and her husband Shawn Coleman of Plainville, CT, and Misty Joy Preston of Johnstown, NY; and five beloved grandchildren: Jordan, Jared, Alayna, and Chandler Preston, and Faith Coleman. She was predeceased by her sister, Faith Roice. A committal service will be held on October 4, 2025, at Broadalbin Union Rural Cemetery at 1:00pm in Broadalbin, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Broadalbin Union Rural Cemetery in her memory.
