Kathleen Bott Obituary

Kathleen (McGue) Bott passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, Kathleen's life was a beautiful reflection of love, kindness, and generosity. Born in Burlington, VT on October 8, 1941, she was one of five daughters to the late Ralph and Harriet (Clay) McGue. For sixty wonderful years, she shared her life with her husband and best friend, Thomas Bott. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, adventure, and devotion. They loved to travel, especially their many cruises and cherished visits to Cape Cod, a place that forever held a special spot in their hearts. Kathleen had a zest for life and a sparkle in her eye that was unmistakable, especially when indulging in one of her favorite pastimes, shopping! She was a woman of creativity and care, finding joy in cooking, baking, and crafting beautiful handmade treasures through her knitting and sewing talents. Her home was always filled with warmth, laughter and good food. A proud and devoted mother, Kathleen was always there for her children, offering love, encouragement, and wisdom. As a Girl Scout leader, she inspired countless young girls with her patience and positivity. Her three grandsons held a very special place in her heart - she adored their tea parties when they were little and was their biggest cheerleader at every game and event as they grew. Kathleen's love extended far beyond her immediate family. She was a cherished aunt who shared a close bond with her nieces and nephews, who brought her great joy through their many visits, especially during her illness. Her beloved dog, Roscoe, was her loyal companion and source of comfort, faithfully by her side through it all. The Bott family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Hartford Healthcare Home Hospice for their compassionate care, and to Kathleen's extraordinary caretaker, Patsy, whose love, attention, and friendship made her part of the family. Her kindness will never be forgotten. Kathleen's family meant the world to her and in return, she meant the world to them. Her laughter, strength, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. She will be missed by her loving husband, Thomas; her children, Patricia Bott, Susan Bott, Thomas Bott and his wife Kristin, and Jennifer Alicea; her grandsons Nathan and Kyle Bott and Olardy Alicea; along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Elizabeth Jacobs, Mary Rowell, Carol Sheriden and Marguerite Chambers. Family and friends may gather on Wednesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad St, Plainville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, meeting directly at St. Matthew Church, 120 Church Ave, Forestville. Committal will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery Plainville.
