Lawrence Rustin Obituary

Lawrence Rustin, 97, was born on March 11, 1928 and passed peacefully surrounded by his family on May 27, 2025, in Coral Gables, Florida. A longtime Hartford area resident, he graduated from Weaver High School and Rider University. Larry was a CPA and astute businessman, and a managing partner at Blum, Shapiro and Co., PC. He enjoyed a second career, working until age 92, as the CFO of The Collection, a luxury car dealership in Miami. He was fond of Broadway musicals, fine food, travel and pastel cashmere sweaters.

His greatest joy was spending time with his beloved family. He was predeceased by his cherished wife, Renee Rustin, who was the light of his life. He is survived by his five children, Peter Rustin (Leslie); Heidi Rustin (Mark Goldman); Ted Levenson (Vince Cuticello); Robert Levenson (Cheryl); and Beth Rustin (Lee Stettner). He was also predeceased by his son, Howard Levenson.

He leaves behind his adored grandchildren, Julia Goldman; Hallie Goldman; Jake Levenson; Diana Stettner; Abby Stettner; and Jack Levenson, all of whom dearly loved their Poppy. Over the last decade, Larry was fortunate to find love again with Barbara Levin.

He lived a full, wonderful life. May his memory be a blessing.
