Leigh Ferguson Obituary

Leigh Burke Ferguson passed away peacefully in her sleep and is no longer suffering on Saturday, September 27, 2025. She was born in Manchester on July 13, 1956, the daughter of the late Thomas F. and Vivian F. Ferguson. Leigh attended Manchester schools, graduated with her teaching degree from SCSU in 1978. She went onto to earn her master's degree in art education from CCSU in 1980. Leigh was a very talented artist and taught art for CREC / Two River's Magnet School until her retirement in 2021. Her artworks, including fine porcelain pottery are displayed in many places to this day. Leigh leaves her sister, Laurie Ferguson Waterman of Bethel and her brother, Thomas H. Ferguson (Starr) of Manchester. She also leaves her 5 nieces and nephews; Brett Waterman and Alyssa Waterman of Bethel, Marissa Ferguson of Summerville, SC, Elisabeth Ferguson of Mansfield and Thomas S. Ferguson of Astoria, NY. Besides her parents, Leigh was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Jay Waterman. She also leaves close and dedicated friends who helped care for her; Beverly Brooks, Deidre Narkawicz, and Eric Rager (who she loved like a son). There are no calling hours. Services are private and will be held at the discretion of the family. John F. Tierney Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. The family asks that memorial donations go to the Manchester Scholarship Foundation/ Thomas and Vivian Ferguson Memorial scholarship.
