Leroy Charles Obituary

Mr. Leroy Peter Charles Sr., son of Mrs. Pearl Florestine Charles, began his journey on March 3, 1950, in Laventille, Trinidad. In his early twenties, he embarked on a new chapter by migrating to America, where he built a life and career. For over four decades, he dedicated himself to his craft as an Auto Body Technician, demonstrating exceptional skill and commitment in his field. A proud Trinidadian, Leroy carried his heritage with him always, often seen sporting his beloved country's colors of red, black, and white. While he made America his home, he never forgot his roots, keeping his culture alive through his love of Soca music, which filled his home with joy and rhythm. In his leisure time, Leroy found peace and pleasure in fishing, a pastime that brought him countless hours of serenity. He was also a passionate cook, sharing his love through the meals he prepared. Modern technology brought him joy in his later years, as he spent hours exploring YouTube videos, particularly delighting in carnival celebrations from around the world. He loved watching the vibrant costumes, music, and festivities that connected him to his roots, which always kept him entertained. His work ethic, dedication to his profession, and warm spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Leroy's journey from Trinidad to America exemplified his courage and determination to pursue his dreams, while never forgetting where he came from. The passing of Leroy will leave a permanent ache in the heart of all who knew and loved him. Leroy leaves to celebrate his memory his wife Attalah Sturges Charles; children, Tony Charles, Charlene Charles, Lorraine Charles, Rakesha McCall and her husband Kejuan, Nigel Jones Charles, Leroy Peter Charles, Jr., Alroy Charles and his wife Kelley, and Attalah Latifah Charles; siblings, Gerald Charles, Esther Charles, Hazel Charles, Cheryl Charles, and Curt Charles; sister in-law, Catherine Sturges, 17 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other close relatives and friends. Along with his mother Pearl, Leroy was preceded in death by his daughter Shirrell Sturges, granddaughter Isabel Jones, and his brother Earl Charles.
