Ligia Chipelo

NAUGATUCK, CT Ligia Chipelo "Beloved mother" Ligia (Morales) Chipelo, 81, entered the gates of Heaven unexpectedly on Monday, April 14, 2025 at St. Mary's Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved widow of Alfredo F. Chipelo who passed away on September 27, 2022. Ligia was born on March 13, 1944, in Baragua, Lara, Venezuela, a daughter of the late Cirilo Castillo and Josefa Cirila Morales. She met her husband, Alfredo, as a teenager after he journeyed to Venezuela from Portugal. They immigrated to the United States and Naugatuck from Venezuela in 1963. Ligia worked for Uniroyal and Lewis Engineering both of Naugatuck for most of her career until 2006 when she retired. She later worked part time at Stop & Shop for several years. Ligia was a strong woman of faith, and was a long-time communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church. She loved being outdoors gardening, and spending time with family and friends. She was loved by all who knew her and will be remembered for her warm smile, kind and generous heart. Ligia leaves to honor and cherish her memory: three children, Beatrice Chipelo (Robert Guerrera) of Wolcott, Alfred Chipelo, Jr. and Rosa De Sousa (John) all of Naugatuck; three sisters, Nilda Isabel Morales de Crespo, Isabel Morales de Crespo and Aleida Morales de Suarez all of Venezuela; a brother, Gerardo Morales of Venezuela; and several cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and close friends. Besides her husband and parents she is predeceased by 2 brothers, Eliseo Morales and Abilio Morales and a sister, Emma Morales de Chavier. Arrangements: A funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, 9:45 a.m. from Chase Parkway Memorial, the Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, to Our Lady of Fatima Church in Waterbury, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery in Naugatuck. Calling hours will be held Monday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial.
