Loretta M. Petrella

Loretta Marion (Shelto) Petrella of East Granby wife of the late John Petrella passed away August 14, 2025. She was born on May 24, 1935, to the late John and Jennie Shelto (Cerra). She grew up in the North End of Hartford and graduated from St. Michael's in 1951. She had lived in Meriden for approximately 40 years before moving to East Granby. Prior to her retirement she worked as a bookkeeper/office manager for Dr Marc Finkelstein DDS Newington. She is predeceased by her husband John Petrella, her parents John and Jennie Shelto (Cerra), her son Richard J. Amodio and her brother John R Shelto Jr. She is survived her son Joseph L. Amodio and his wife Barbara of South Windsor CT, her stepdaughter Michelle Danielson and her husband David of Odessa FL, her granddaughters Jamie Snyder and her husband Mike of Key Largo FL, Jennifer Dalene and her husband Richard of Hartland CT, Michelle Dalene and her husband Scott of Hartland CT, Anna Matthews and her husband Erik of Simsbury CT, and Lauren Danielson of Odessa FL. She also leaves her great grandchildren Brandon Babineau, Allysa and Micheal Snyder, Jackson, Emma and Hayes Dalene, Wyatt and Lila Dalene, and Lukas and Blake Matthews, as well as many nieces and nephews from the Petrella family, Richard Gallo, Laurie Gallo Kipphut, Joann Gallo, and Ronald Gallo, and her great nieces and nephews, Anthony and Frank Gallo, Sarah Gaj, Jeffrey and Eric Gagne, Ashley and Nicholas Gallo, Tarah Tiezzi Bruenn, Taylor and Nicole Tiezzi, Ginamarie and Anthony Kipphut. Her family will receive friends on Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 9:30-10:30am at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor; followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m., at St. Margaret Mary Church, South Windsor.
