Lynn Drummey Obituary

On February 14, 2025, E. Lynn Drummey (O'Keefe) entered peacefully into eternal rest at home surrounded by her beloved family.

Lynn was born on January 17th, 1946 in Cambridge, MA to Richard O'Keefe and Irene Joyce. She was raised by her mother and stepfather John Sparks in Westwood, MA. Lynn graduated from Westwood High School in 1964, where she played basketball and was a member of the Queen's Court for her senior prom. She met David, her husband of 57 years, in 1967. They started their family in Norwood, MA and relocated to Somers, CT in 1975.

Lynn loved the ocean, and enjoyed spending summers at Race Point Beach on Cape Cod with her family. She was also an exceptionally gifted self-taught cook, and loved to prepare food for family and friends. Sunday Dinners were always a tradition in her home. Cooking was how she showed her love for family and friends. Whether barbecuing or making a spaghetti dinner, she loved to cook for and host a crowd. One of her biggest inspirations was Julia Child, and she recently enjoyed a trip to the Smithsonian, where she was able to view Julia's kitchen on display.

One of her greatest joys was spending time with her five cherished grandchildren. She will be remembered as a loving Grandma and fun babysitter, for making the best peanut butter and jellies, and for showing them how to catch fireflies in her backyard. She was also a devoted sitter and caretaker to her many grandpets over the years.

Lynn loved to learn about the world and nature. She was an avid reader and could always be found at the kitchen table with a good book, her newest National Geographic, or the New York Times. She was a crossword puzzle super-enthusiast frequently collaborating with her husband on the Sunday puzzles.

Her family and friends will dearly miss her loving presence, incredible sense of humor and contagious laugh. She will forever be our Valentine.

Aside from her parents and stepfather she is predeceased by her brother, John R. Sparks Jr., and her sisters Sheila, Marsha, and Donna.

Lynn is survived by her beloved husband David, sister Irene (Jean Marc), seven children and five grandchildren: Anne (Christa and Michael Desroches), David, Janet and Jim Pfeifer (Ellen Pfeifer and Conor Stevens, Erin and Corey Maznicki), Patrick, Sharon, Stephen and Kim Arruda, Paul and Michele Drummey (Lulu and Jack) She is also survived by many loving brothers- and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.

Her life will be celebrated with a Mass at St. Bernard's Church (Saint Jeanne Jugan Parish), 426 Hazard Avenue, Enfield on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 11 am. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lynn's memory can be made to American Cancer Society (https://donate.cancer.org/)
