Madeleine DeMichele Obituary

Madeleine DeMichele, 94, of Broad Brook, entered into eternal peace on Monday, March 3, 2025. She was born in Hartford, CT, on December 30, 1930, the daughter of the late Warren Fardig and Leverne (Broadhurst) Kennedy, and stepdaughter of the late David Kennedy and Edith Fardig. Madeleine was a 1949 graduate of Hartford Public High School. A longtime resident of Newington, Madeleine spent many of her adult years there before moving to Broad Brook to be with her daughter and son-in-law. She worked as a Purchasing Assistant at UCONN Health Center for 22 years, retiring after a dedicated career. At home, Madeleine cherished her time with her daughter, Patricia, who was not only her daughter but also her best friend. Together, they enjoyed weekly bingo games, shopping trips, and monthly visits to the casino. In addition to these joyful outings, Madeleine was a talented crocheter, creating beautiful afghans that she lovingly gifted to children and adults who were ill, sharing warmth and comfort through her craft. Madeleine is survived by her beloved daughter, Patricia, and her son-in-law, Richard, whose unwavering support and compassion went beyond measure. She also leaves behind a brother and sister, her special nephew Lawrence, her special great nephew Austin, her goddaughters Wendy(thank you, she really enjoyed your visits) and Kathleen, as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family. In addition to her parents and step-parents, Madeleine was predeceased by two brothers. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 2 to 4 pm at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd, Enfield. A funeral service will immediately follow at 4 pm. Burial will be private, at the convenience of the family. I was very sad to read of Madeline's passing. I grew up with her daughter in Hartford and considered the family my extended family, especially after I lost my own mother. I wasn't surprised to read that they were each other's best friend, because they were. I'm glad. Patty had her mom for as many years as she did. She has that many more memories to cherish. I wish I was still in Connecticut to pay my respects, but I will be there in spirit. Love, Pat Lally
