Marcelino Colon

Marcelino Colón, 83, of Hartford, CT, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, after a long battle with illness. Born in Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico, he was the eldest son of the late Pablo and Marcola Colón. As the eldest son, Marcelo worked tirelessly alongside his father in agriculture to provide for the family. With courage and determination he left Puerto Rico as a young man to build a better life and future for himself and his loved ones. He was employed for many years with the City of Hartford Department of Public Works and, in the late 1970s, founded his own business-MC Paving Company. Known for his strong work ethic, generous spirit, and friendly nature, Marcelo earned the love and respect of everyone who knew him. His legacy lives on through MC Paving, a lasting reminder of his dedication and impact on the community he helped build. His family is deeply grateful for the many ways he touched their lives. Marcelino is survived by his devoted wife, Marisol Colón of 53 years; their loving sons, Marcel (and his wife Paola) and Jeffrey; and his cherished grandsons, Jeffrey Jr. and Jereck, who adored their "Papa." He also leaves behind his brothers José, Sergio, Daniel, Samuel, and Juan; his sisters Emma, María, Olga, Rosa, and Norma; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss him dearly. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving sister, Angelina. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours at Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home, 1276 Berlin Turnpike, Wethersfield, CT. Tuesday, October 14, 2025 from 5pm to 8pm. With a prayer service at 6pm.
