Marie Barth Obituary

Pierrette Marie Cecile Desautels Barth, known affectionately as Marie by her family and friends, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on July 10, 2025, in South Windsor, Connecticut, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on June 13, 1943, in the small town of La Patrie, Quebec, Canada, Marie immigrated to the United States at the age of five with her parents, Jean-Camille and Germaine Desautels, eventually settling in South Windsor. There, she grew into a woman of remarkable warmth and generosity, touching the lives of all who knew her. At just 16 years old, Marie met the love of her life, David. Their bond blossomed, and they were married on July 22, 1961. They shared 63 years of marriage side by side, and this July would have commemorated their 64th wedding anniversary. Marie's professional journey began as a skilled hairstylist, bringing joy and beauty into the lives of her clients, friends and family. Her career later transitioned to the world of manufacturing, where she dedicated many years as a machine operator at First Brands and as a fiber optics lab supervisor at JDS Uniphase. Marie's work ethic and attention to detail were unmatched, earning her the respect and admiration of her colleagues. Marie's love for her family was immeasurable, and she found her greatest joy in the company of her beloved husband and their three children: Robert Barth and his wife Kathy, Gerald Barth and his wife Bette, and Jill Zygmunt and her husband Robert. Marie's legacy lives on through her grandchildren-Steven Barth, Jerry Barth, Daimin Barth, Angel Zeglinski, and Jacob Zygmunt-each of whom carries cherished memories of her love and the special moments they shared. Her relationship with her sister, Dianne Doyle, and her niece, Kelle Carlson, was especially close and treasured. These were bonds she held dear. Marie also valued the personal connections she had with her many aunts, uncles, and cousins, whose presence brought joy and richness to her life. Marie's spirit was characterized by her loving nature, her friendly and welcoming demeanor, and her unwavering generosity. She had the rare ability to make everyone feel at home, and her kindness left a lasting impression on all who were fortunate enough to cross her path. She was a friend to all, a stranger to none, and her legacy of love will continue to inspire those she touched. As we bid farewell to Marie, we celebrate a life lived with purpose, love, and grace. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but the memories she created will continue to warm our hearts and remind us of the beautiful soul that she was-and will always be. Though she has left this earthly realm, her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us every day. Rest in peace, beautiful Marie, until we meet again. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 31st from 4-6 p.m. at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center Street in Manchester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 1st at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 673 Ellington Road, South Windsor.
