Marion McLam Obituary

On January 25, 2025, Marion June (Hadley) McLam, loving wife, Mom, Nana and Gigi, passed away at the age of 91. She was predeaced by her loving husband, Wendell McLam. Marion was born January 10, 1934, in Barnet, VT, the oldest of 6 to Lewis and Thelma (Champany) Hadley. Marion attended McIndoes Academy, in Barnet, VT, where she excelled at cheerleading, basketball and dancing. Marion and Wendell met in high school and married in 1951 and made their home in Terryville, CT, where she stayed home to raise their two children, Cindy and Robert, until they started junior high school. Marion was an active member of the Terryville Congregational Church for over 65 years. She enjoyed the fellowship, being a Deaconess, was on many committees, taught Sunday School and was part of their famous "church-mice" group; that was special to her. Marion and Wendell's biggest love was following their children all over New England, to watch them in their sports activities. The tradition followed for their grandchildren as well. Marion began working for Food Mart as a training manager for their offices in the district, and then she went to work as an inspector for Gems, until her retirement. They often spent their time enjoying snowmobiling, skiing, golf, and antiquing around the family cottage on Harvey & Seymour Lake in Vermont. Once retired, she and Wendell became snow-birds and enjoyed wintering in Zephyrhills, FL, for over 20 years, she enjoyed antiquing, tag sales, traveling and biking with her "Three Musketeer's". To know Marion, was to love her. She was very compassionate, and her life was centered around her family and friends. Besides her husband, Marion was predeceased by her parents, her sisters, Beverly Winters and Shirley Daniels and her brothers, Donald, James and David Hadley. Marion is survived by her daughter, Cynthia McLam Lubik and her husband Russell of NH; son Robert McLam and is wife Heidi of Terryville; her grandchildren, Trisha McLam and Robert McLam Jr; a great-granddaughter Briella, and many nieces and nephews. Marions family would like to thank her special care givers, Christina, Becky and Lisa. Also, their heart goes out to Ingraham Manor for their care and compassion, with special Thanks to Anis, Deborah, Todd and Jennifer. Thank you to Rev. Zach for your words of comfort, support and prayers. A celebration of life will be held at the Terryville Congregational Church, 233 Main St, Terryville, on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the Terryville Congregational Church Book of Remembrance, 233 Main St, Terryville 06786. OMG a blast from the past. I worked with Marion in 1966 at McLellan's 5 and 10 cent store on Main St. in Bristol. I was a high school student when I worked with these ladies. What a HOOT!!! They were such fun to be around. Later years, my daughter worked with Marion in Gem's in Plainville. She said that Marion was one of the nicest ladies. I agreed. I actually went in Gem's to see Marion when my daughter worked there. If I knew Marion was in Ingraham Manor I would have visited with her; I was there often. My condolences to her family. Rest In Peace Marion.
