Marshall Wells Obituary

Marshall Frank Wells, born on June 7, 1934, in Iowa City, Iowa, to the late Marshall J. and Frances F. Wells, passed away on August 25, 2025, at the tender age of 91. Raised in Fort Dodge, Iowa, Marshall completed his primary and secondary education before attending Iowa State Teacher's College, where he excelled in field sports and industrial arts. In the early years of his career, Marshall moved to Connecticut, where he worked for United Nuclear Corporation for 18 years. In 1974, he made a significant career shift, joining the wine and spirits industry as a Sales Representative for Connecticut Distributors Inc. There, he dedicated 39 years of service until his retirement in 2013. For the past 12 years, he continued his passion for work, contributing part-time to the Knickerbockers' Golf Club in New Haven. An active and devoted member of his community, Marshall was involved in numerous civic and volunteer activities, including serving on the Board of the Hamden-New Haven Cooperative Neighborhood School System and running for alderman in the Hill neighborhood of New Haven. He was a cherished member of Saint Luke's Church for over 50 years. Marshall's dedication to the Masonic Order was profound. He became a member of Widows Son Lodge #1 P.H.A. in 1977 and earned the esteemed title of 33rd Degree Mason in May of 2004. His Masonic journey also included serving as Grand High Priest of the Holy Royal Arch Masons of Connecticut P.H.A., as well as various roles with the Heroines of Jericho, including Grand Worthy Joshua and Past General Grand Conference Joshua (Honorary). He was also a proud member of the Eureka Chapter #2 Order of the Eastern Star and Arabic Temple #40, among many other Masonic bodies. Marshall's service extended beyond his local community to the United States and the Bahamas, representing the Heroines of Jericho with great honor. His Masonic career was marked by his leadership, knowledge, and unwavering commitment to the ideals of the Order. His presence and contributions will be remembered throughout the Masonic community. Though Marshall was an Iowan by birth, he firmly established his life in New Haven, Connecticut, where he spent over six decades. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Virginia V. Wells. Marshall leaves behind his cherished son, Anthony M. Wells, daughter, Jennifer F. Wells-Jackson, five wonderful grandchildren, and his devoted life partner of over 26 years, Linda Townsend. Marshall was best known for his relentless work ethic, deep love for his family, and commitment to the values of the Masonic Order. Whether in his career, family life, or Masonic pursuits, he approached every endeavor with dedication, pride, and humility. His legacy will live on through the love and loyalty he showed to those around him, and he will forever be remembered for his kindness and devotion.
