MaryAnn (Burns) Dixon
MaryAnn B. Dixon, 82, of Windsor Locks, CT, beloved wife of the late Robert F. Dixon, entered into eternal rest peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on August 26, 2025. She courageously fought cancer for over a year and in her remarkable journey taught us that every day is a gift filled with grace, faith, kindness, love and joy. She called it her points of light. People and stories or experiences she had that she said showed her love and hope no matter how hard the fight got. She had a deep and loving connection to God and her faith carried her throughout her life. She was a CCD instructor and truly loved being a Eucharistic Minister. MaryAnn was born in Hartford, CT, on October 14, 1942, the third of four children of the late Perley G. and the late Elizabeth F. Burns. She attended St. Augustine School and graduated from Bulkeley High School. She went on to study radiology at St. Francis Hospital where she became a certified radiology technician, a career she would thrive in for more than 30 years. MaryAnn loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grands. Nothing made her happier than to be Gram, Grammy and Gigi. She had an extra special connection to her brother John [Jack] as they shared the exact same birthdate, just five years apart. They always shared their special day together. She loved visits to New Brunswick, Canada to spend time with all of her beloved Burns family Canadian Cousins. She was a wonderful friend and made lifelong memories with Mary Podann, Nancy Levy, Carolyn Haboian, Dale Lefebvre and the late Jerri Iskra. During the last 4 years living at Pine Meadow, she loved her neighbors, especially hanging out in the breezeway with Donna, Patty, and Nancy. No one could tell a story like MaryAnn, and she would always start with, "to make a long story short", which of course it never was!
MaryAnn is survived by her four children; Donna M. Dixon of East Windsor, CT, Patricia A. Dixon of East Windsor, CT, Robert E. Dixon and his wife Laura of Ellington, CT and Daniel J. Dixon of East Windsor, CT, her 11 grandchildren; Renee Mello, Shaun Mello, Julia Jaminet, Benjamin Jaminet, Brady Barsalou, Ashley Dixon, Michael Dixon, Jordan Dixon, Alexandra Dixon, Kelsey Chartier and Jason Chartier, and her two great-grandchildren; Carter Rodriguez and Kayden DiRenzo. She also leaves her brother, John J. Burns and his wife Pamela of Windsor, CT; her nephew and godson Christopher A. Burns of Stafford Springs, CT; nephew William A. Burns Jr. of Enfield, CT; and great nieces Lindsy and Deanna Burns. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her sister Elizabeth M. Burns, M.M. and brother William A. Burns and his wife Patricia A. Burns and nephew Peter G. Burns.
The family wishes to express their deep and sincere thanks to Dr. Todd Alekshun, Nurse Pam Fowler and all of the Hospice staff, the nurses and staff at Hartford Healthcare Cancer Center in Manchester, Patti Eastham and Cindy Gemme. We are forever grateful for your care, support and love.
