Michael Chen

Chin-Shong (Michael) Chen, 66, of Simsbury, beloved husband of Sheue-Er Chen, passed away on Tuesday Feb 4, 2025. He was born in Hsinchu, Taiwan on January 16, 1959. He grew up playing baseball and enjoyed playing soccer, tennis, and swimming throughout high school and college. He earned his BA and MA from Tatung University and his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Arizona State University. He was employed by Ford Motor Company and retired from The Pratt & Whitney Division of United Technologies after many years. Chin-Shong, known as Michael, was a member of the Chinese Baptist Church of Greater Hartford in Bloomfield. He was heavily dedicated to his Christian beliefs, and was very involved in the church ministries, as well as serving on the Deacon board and leading Sunday school. In addition to his desire to serve, he pursued a Master's degree in Christian Studies from China Evangelical Seminary North America. Besides his wife Sheue-Er Chen, he leaves behind a son, David Chen, a daughter, Janice Shyu and her husband Joshua Shyu; his 2 grandchildren, Josie and Julian Shyu. He also leaves behind a younger brother and older sister in Taiwan. He was preceded in death by his parents Sun Su-yen and Qing Wen Chen and his older brother. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, 10 AM at Chinese Baptist Church of Greater Hartford, 160 Wintonbury Avenue, Bloomfield, CT. All friends and family are welcome.
