Michael Deyo Obituary
Michael Joseph Deyo
January 14, 1959 - September 22, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our step-dad, Mike Deyo at age 66 after a long and brave battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
Mike was more than just a step-dad. He was the beloved husband of Bonnie Deyo for 42 years before her passing in August 2023. Mike was a dad, brother, grandfather (Poppy) and great-grandfather and friend.
Mike was born to Robert Deyo and Hazel Marrion Deyo, who predeceased him, in Brattleboro, VT on January 14, 1959. He moved to Windsor, CT in 1976 with his parents and brother, Robbie. He graduated from Windsor High School in 1977.
In February 1981, he met the love of his life, Bonnie at The Villa Rose in Windsor Locks. They loved to go there to dance. They were married on October 4, 1986 and made a beautiful life together. We would tease them both calling them "Babe" as they would refer to each other. Mike and Bonnie's home was open to everyone. They welcomed our friends with open arms and they always had room for "one more" at the holiday table.
Mike was a kind, loving, supportive and generous family man. Poppy knew all the likes and dislikes of the grandkids, from favorite drinks and snacks to TV shows and music. He loved to go hiking, walking barefoot (in any kind of weather), reading science-fiction books, collecting pewter figurines. He was a nature lover. He loved squirrels, birds, deer, moose and spiders (his favorite). He shared his love of Vermont and the best cheese from there with us. We spent a lot of time at "Camp" in Brattleboro near a favorite spot in the West River called Deyo's Hole for swimming. Mike was quite the talker, always sharing stories of family and life in Vermont. His family was traced back to the journey of The Mayflower.
Mike leaves his daughters and sons-in-law, Carole and Richard Berlin and Anne and Jon Harrington, all of Windsor Locks. His grandchildren, Ashley Harrington and Jasmin Roberson, Jake Burr and Kristan Walters, Zachary Burr, Jenna Burr, Joe Berlin, Alexandra Harrington and Luke Wiers and Samantha Lemos. His great-grandchildren, Adrianna Pratt, Aubrey Bordeau, Jake Burr, Jr., Elliot Wiers and Kaylee Howie. He leaves his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Sandra Deyo and nephew, Sean Deyo. Cousins Shane Marrion and Julie Frost. Mike also leaves his good friend, Bob Copeland. Mike leaves his beloved cat, Heidi.
Family and friends are invited for Visitation on Friday, September 26, 2025 from 4:00 - 6:00 pm at Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks, CT. A Funeral Home Service will take place on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 9:30 am at Windsor Locks Funeral Home. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Poquonock Cemetery in Windsor where he will be laid to rest next to Bonnie. For online expressions of sympathy, please visit www.windsorlocksfuneralhome.com
