Miguel A. Rios

Miguel Rios Sr., 86, of Meriden, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Isabela, Puerto Rico, on October 6, 1938, he was the son of the late Guillermo Rios and Maria Luciano. Miguel was a man of great strength and quiet resilience. Even in his battle with cancer, he carried himself with grace and courage, never letting his suffering overshadow the love he shared with others. He was deeply devoted to the Lord and lived out his faith daily. Prior to his retirement, Miguel worked in maintenance at the Meriden Shelter, where he was known for his dedication and kind spirit. A talented and hardworking man, Miguel was very handy and took great pride in his ability to tackle complete home renovations there was truly nothing he couldn't do with his own hands. He also had a deep love for music, often playing the guitar, writing songs, and composing poems that reflected his heart and creativity. Above all, he cherished time with his family, delighting them with his dad jokes, heartfelt stories, and wisdom. He is survived by his beloved wife, Bienvenida Rios, and their children, Miguel Rios Jr.(Milagros), Aida Luz Rios, Miguel A. Rios, Adam Avila (Juana) and Marilyn Negron. He also leaves behind many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will miss his humor, warmth, and love. Miguel was predeceased by his son, Jose Miguel Avila, and his sisters, Ana Angelica Rios Padua, Juana Aida Rios, and Maria Altroche. Miguel will be remembered as a man of faith, love, and strength, whose hands built, whose music inspired, and whose words touched the hearts of many. We rejoice in knowing he now rests in the presence of his savior his legacy will live on in the lives of all who knew and loved him. Miguel's family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will take place at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
