Nanci Budnick

Nanci Joan (Metzler) Budnick, 82, of Vernon, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Born in New Britain, she was the beloved daughter of the late William Metzler, Sr. and Olga (Johnson) Metzler. Nanci was a proud graduate of New Britain High School, Class of 1960, and went on to earn both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education from CCSC. Affectionately known as "Mrs. B," she dedicated over 25 years to teaching elementary students in the area, including St. Thomas the Apostle School in West Hartford and most recently at Parkville Community School in Hartford. Passionate about education, Nanci touched countless lives with her kindness and dedication. Her excellence in teaching was recognized when she was honored with Hartford's Teacher of the Year Award in 2008. Beyond her career, Nanci's greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother. She cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren, creating memories that will be treasured forever. She is survived by her daughter, Beth (Jack) Pacheco of Tolland, CT, and their children, Mollie and Charlotte; her son, David (Jennifer) Budnick of Charlotte, NC, and their children, Tyler, Lillie, and John; her son, William "Bill" (Kathleen) Budnick of Charlotte, NC, and their children, Jessica, Will, and Amelia; and her son, Danny Budnick of Rock Hill, SC, and his children, Emily and Jake. She is also survived by her sister, Marcia (Robert) Anderson of Southington, as well as several nieces and nephews. Nanci was predeceased by her parents and her brother, William Metzler, Jr. A Celebration of Life will be held on her birthday, Thursday, February 27, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square, New Britain. Burial will be private in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain. Calling hours will take place on Thursday morning at 9:30 AM prior to the Celebration of Life.
