Nancy Spencer Obituary

Nancy Lynn Spencer, 80, of Plainville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain. Born in Bristol on November 8, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Thelma (Riggs) Spencer. Nancy was a proud graduate of Plainville High School. In her younger years, she enjoyed working as a hostess at Cook's Tavern (now J. Timothy's), where her warm smile welcomed many. Later, while raising her family, Nancy devoted her career to caring for others as a Certified Nursing Assistant and Home Healthcare Provider. She often spoke lovingly of her patients, and her compassion for those she cared for was at the heart of who she was. Family was everything to Nancy. She cherished hosting big holiday celebrations for Thanksgiving and Christmas, summer backyard cookouts, and spending time by the pool with her grandchildren. Her life was filled with love, laughter, and devotion to those closest to her. Nancy leaves behind her beloved children, Todd Antonaros and his fiancée Dorease "Dee" Lamon, Brian Lavigne and his wife Julie, Krista Washburn, and Jeffrey Lavigne and his wife Melanie; her sister, Donna Spencer; her treasured grandchildren, Matt Murphy and wife Stephanie , Megan Burrow and husband Josh , Kassie Schilling, Travis Lavigne, Jonathan Lavigne, and Joey Lavigne; two great granddaughters, Riley and Harper Murphy; her dear aunt "Windy" Wanda; and her lifelong best friend of 70 years, Rella. She will also be remembered by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by, her infant son, Corey Lavigne, Brian's twin, who passed away at just 9 days old, her brother, Richard Spencer and her son-in-law, Steve Washburn. Nancy also leaves her loyal fur companion, Mandee, and is now joyfully reunited with her beloved horse, Willy, and her faithful dog, Molly. A Memorial Celebration of Nancy's life will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Shaker-Hill Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave. New Britain.
