Patricia Carabetta Obituary

Patricia "Pat" Ann Carabetta (Rogalski), 73, was called home on Saturday, August 16, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Born October 1, 1951, to the late Henry and Mary Rogalski (Casey) in Meriden, CT, Pat attended St. Rose Catholic School and Francis T. Maloney High School, where she met the love of her life, the late James "Jim" J. Carabetta. Pat would go on to attend St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Hartford, CT, where she received her RN. Pat's career as a nurse was a source of great pride to her and her family. She spent many years working on 7 East at Meriden-Wallingford Hospital and later in Pavilion B at Midstate Medical Center. She also worked faithfully for Dr. Alfredo Axtmayer, MD, as an orthopedic nurse and office manager until retirement. Pat and Jim raised three boys in Meriden, where all attended Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School and Church. Here, Pat made many lifelong friends as an active member of the school PTO and volunteered countless hours of service fundraising. The friendships made at OLMC continued to be another point of pride for Pat until the end. Pat was a voracious reader and also enjoyed cooking for her family, crocheting, camping with Jim and friends, and supporting her children and grandchildren in sports, academics, and local Cub Scouts. She and Jim also enjoyed many nights as mainstays at Jacoby's Restaurant or simply sitting on the front porch of their home, watching the world go by and laughing with friends. She was also an avid fan of UConn basketball and the Boston Red Sox, being the only Sox fan in a house full of Yankee fans. Pat is survived by her three sons: Brian Carabetta and his wife, Cassandra (Secondo); Michael Carabetta and Elizabeth Frederick; and Matthew Carabetta and his wife, Kristen (Turlis), as well as six grandchildren-Brian Carabetta Jr., Lauren Carabetta, Christina Carabetta, Katelynn Carabetta, James T. Carabetta, and Colin Carabetta. She is also survived by her sisters Susan Pappas and Beth Ouellet and her husband Ray, her brother David Rogalski and his wife Mary, and extended family: brother-in-law John Carabetta and his wife Gail and sister-in-law Suzanne Daigle and her husband Phil. There are also many nieces and nephews whom Pat loved very much. Besides her parents, Pat is predeceased by her beloved husband, Jim Carabetta, called home in 2001, and her sister Christine Forrest (Rogalski), called home in 2020. Pat's family wishes to thank her family and friends for their continued support throughout Pat's illness, especially Mrs. Rose Camire, who is the best friend anyone could ask for. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, August 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden, CT 06450. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady Queen of Angels Parish, Holy Angels Campus, 585 Main St, Meriden, CT 06451, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Meriden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 1 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105. For online condolences, please visit jferryfh.com.
