Patricia Formica Obituary

Patricia Jean Formica of Cromwell, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on May 5, 2025 at Hartford Hospital. She was born in Middletown on June 24,1953, the daughter of the late Louis S. and Dorothy A. (Kelly) Formica. Patricia was emplyeed since 2004 at Middletown Police Department. She enjoyed decorating the Christmas Tree at the police department every year with her one of her best friends. She retired in 2020. She enjoyed taking her 3 weeks vacation to Wells Beach, Maine. Patty was loved by all those who met her. She bought joy & laughter into our lives. She enjoyed our family gatherings and always remembered all she loved with cards of all occasions, the outdoors, gardening and sitting outside watching nature. She is survived by her sisters, Frances Wibby of Middletown, Karen Nichols of East Hampton, Roseanne Sapula and her husband Ray of South Windsor, Carmela Barratt and her husband Robert of Middletown, Dorothy Formica of Wolcott, and Marion Page and her husband Robert of Middletown ; her brothers, Daniel Formica and his wife Barbara of Palmento FL, Salvatore Formica of Middletown and Louis Formica of Middletown ; eight nieces, seven nephews, four great nieces and nine great nephews. Robert Russo her cousin who she resided with. And, extended loved ones of the Russo family. She was predeceased by her sister Cheryl (Sherry) & newphew Jonathan Wibby. A memorial service will be held Saturday (May 17th) at 1 p.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown. Private burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Middletown. Friends may vistit with her family at the funeral home on Saturday from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., prior to the service.

I was fortunate to work at the Middletown Police Department while Patty was there, and I always looked forward to seeing her. She had such a kind and pleasant demeanor, and our conversations were always a bright spot in the day. She brought warmth and joy to everyone around her. My deepest sympathies to her family, friends, and all who loved her. She will be truly missed.
