Patricia Kelly Obituary

Patricia Ann Kelly, of Moodus, CT, passed away on October 13, 2025, with her loving family by her side. She was 91 years old. She was fondly called "Patsy". Patricia was born on August 5, 1934 in Clinton, MA. She was the daughter of Chester F. Reardon and Augusta R. (McCann) Reardon. Patricia raised five children as a single mother in Clinton, Sterling and Princeton, MA. She was a longtime parishioner of Saint John the Guardian of Our Lady Parish in Clinton. Patricia was a stay at home Mom for fourteen years and then began a long career with the Firestone Company. A self-taught bookkeeper, she retired after twenty years as office manager and bookkeeper of the Shrewsbury White City and Leominster Firestone stores. After retiring, she worked part-time from 1990-1993 in the housekeeping department at Notre Dame Health Care in Worcester, MA. She then went to work part-time in the housekeeping and activities departments at the former University Commons in Shrewsbury, MA. She had a great love for the elderly and extended kindness and help to all those in vulnerable and disadvantaged positions. She retired completely at age 65. Patricia was great fun and was always a shining light at gatherings. She came from a jovial family of Irish heritage and was fortunate to travel to Ireland. She disputed the results of her Ancestry testing when it came back stating that she was 78% Irish. We decided that there definitely had been a mistake and that she was indeed correct and that she and her entire family were 100% Irish. She loved big band music, especially Frank Sinatra, and was a beautiful dancer. She enjoyed exercising at Gloria Stevens and with Jack LaLanne on television. After retirement, she traveled to Maine in the summers and Florida in the winters. She was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed cooking and baking and worked in the vegetable garden in her backyard. She was an avid reader and she and her friends traveled with small libraries in the trunks of their cars so they could exchange books when they met. She still socialized with grammar and high school friends. Patricia was pre deceased by her ex-husband James J. Kelly in 2003, and her long term companion of twenty-five years, Robert S. Nedroscik, in 2005. She was predeceased by all her siblings: Chester F. Reardon Jr.,Thomas J. Reardon, Kathleen Gallagher, Nancy DiRienzo and Robert J. Reardon Sr. Very sadly, she was predeceased by two daughters, Maureen Kelly at age seven in 1970 and Carolyn Kelly at age thirty in 1990. Patricia was fortunate to live close to all her family which provided a great source of support for her and her children over the years. Patricia is survived by her three children: Kathleen (Kevin) Hastings of Colchester, CT, Timothy J. Kelly and his companion Kelly Bachand of Worcester, MA and Coleen (John) Logomasini of Marlborough, MA. She leaves two grandchildren, Bridget (Kevin) Komosky of Colchester, CT and Brittany (Kyle) Fernandez of Cherry Valley, MA, as well as four great grand-children and extended family and friends. She is also survived by her dear friend, Patricia Laflash of Worcester, MA. We would like to express profound gratitude to those who helped care for Patricia: Kim, her longtime companion and caregiver while at home, and Judy of Prisms Hair Salon in Colchester, who patiently and lovingly tended to her hair in the salon - one of Patricia's favorite things to do. In her younger years, it was a weekly visit to the hairdresser that she enjoyed and it spanned decades. Many thanks go out to all staff at Chestelm Health and Rehab Center who gave exceptional care to Patricia during her four years there. Many would visit her daily to chat and bring her to activities and The Rosary Group. And many thanks to all medical personnel in the community who worked to make Patricia's days easier. Patricia made the world a better place and will be deeply missed. She was beloved by many and she left a little sparkle wherever she went. Her sparkle has remained in the many lives she touched along the way. Patricia always tried to look on the bright side of things. Patricia had asked, that upon her passing, for people to consider donating to the Jimmy Fund/Dana-Farber Children's Hospital or The Dementia Society of America. Patricia's care has now been entrusted to Aurora McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester, CT. There will be calling hours at the funeral home on October 21st from 9:00-10:30am. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 128 Norwich Avenue, Colchester. Burial will be private at a later date at St. John's Cemetery, Lancaster, MA.
