Patricia Marinone Obituary

It is with profound sadness that the family of Patricia White Marinone announces her unexpected passing from a heart attack on August 28, 2025, at the age of 95 in Fall River, Massachusetts, with her daughter Laurie by her side. Pat was born on October 27, 1929, to Dorothy Crane White and Carl White in Stafford Springs, CT, the oldest of four children. The family was poor, but Carl hunted and fished to put protein on the table, and the family made do, as many depression-era families did. Pat grew up in a close-knit neighborhood in Thompsonville, CT where the kids played hopscotch, roller skated, rode bikes, and walked to the movies or to the pond to skate in winter. The family had no car, but Carl could borrow a pick-up truck from his employer on weekends, and the kids loved to ride in the back to family picnics or swimming outings at local ponds. Pat's childhood friend Joe Cimino was allowed to borrow his father's dairy delivery truck, and the kids would pile in for nights out. Pat attended Catholic grammar and middle school and graduated as class Valedictorian and then attended Enfield High where she won a physics prize. The teenagers square danced, bowled, and gathered at the local coffee shop. Her high school sweetheart enlisted in the army, and they broke up a few months later. Pat worked briefly in the insurance industry in Hartford but hated being so far away and eventually quit and took an office job at Bigelow (carpets). She met and married her husband Joe Marinone of Windsor Locks in 1950, and they lived in a small apartment near his parents. She left her job when pregnant with their first daughter, Susan, and she and Joe built their home on Suffield Street and moved in just after their second daughter, Karen, was born. They expanded their family to include a third daughter, Debbie, a son (finally!), Billy, and a late-dividend daughter, Laurie. Joe left his job at Fuller Brush to start his own home improvement business, JoPat Metal Products, which was very successful. Pat kept house, raised the kids, and assisted with the business. They had a very happy life and many blessings which they loved to share with family – parents and siblings, and then with extended family as it grew, including the White, Egan and Marinone cousins. Joe and Pat had a summer cottage on the CT shoreline in Old Lyme at White Sand Beach, home to decades of fond memories, and after learning to ski locally at Mt. Tom in MA, eventually a ski house at Bromley Mountain in Vermont. Pat moved her parents two doors away once her father retired to keep them safe and close. Pat and Joe were involved in state and town politics, the church, PTA, the Fire Department and Auxiliary, and the Lions Club. Pat was one of the first women inducted to the Club in 1987. Pat lost Joe to a heart attack after 37 years of marriage in 1987, and re-connected with and married her high school sweetheart, George Mumblo, in 1991. They had many adventures in retirement, including world travel, watercolor painting, and organizing annual Enfield High reunions. Pat lost George to cancer after 23 years of marriage in 2013. She is also preceded in death by her 3 siblings and 3 of her daughters: Karen, Debbie, and Susan. She is survived by her son Billy(Lynn), her daughter Laurie (Norman), her son-in-law Jimmy and extended family (Susan's 3 sons and daughter, Debbie's daughter, and Billy's son and daughter). In total, Pat leaves 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She will always be known as the matriarch of the Marinone family, and her joy, kindness, generosity and love of family will live on. The family extends their sincere thanks to the staff at The Residence at Cedar Dell in MA, where she spent her last three years, particularly the Memory Care wing, where she lived since March of 2025. Visitation hours will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 3rd at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Pat's life will be held on Thursday, September 4th, 2025, at 10:00 AM in St. Mary's Church, 42 Spring St., Windsor Locks, CT. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
