Paul Ludington Obituary

Paul R. Ludington, 86, of North Haven, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on Wednesday, August 13th, 2025, at his home. Paul was born in New Haven on June 2, 1939, and was the son of the late Reginald and Dorothy Taragowski Ludington. Paul was raised in the Savin Rock area of West Haven. After attending Notre Dame High School, at age 17 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served as a cook aboard in the USS Ray and the USS Sarda, both diesel submarines. While serving in the Navy, at age 18, he met the love of his life, 16 year old Patricia Rose Rubano. They spent the next 66 years together until her passing in 2024. Paul was a talented woodworker and craftsman spending most of his working years doing millwork in the lumber industry at Batter Lumber, Triangle Pacific, and Country Lumber, from which he retired. You couldn't go on a car ride without him proudly pointing out "I did the doors there" in random neighborhoods and buildings. He loved fishing in his younger days and was a member of the Waucoma Yacht Club since the early 1970s, serving as Recording Secretary for a number of years before serving 2 terms as the Commodore. Father of Paul Ludington of North Branford, John Ludington of East Haven, Debra Ferrigno (David) of North Haven and the late Joseph Ludington. Grandfather of Morgan Jasmin, Jesse Ludington (Josie), Kara Ludington, Sydney Ferrigno, Sofia Ludington, Paul Ludington, Jamie Nastri (Erik). Great-Grandfather of Peter and Violet Nastri. Brother of Joanne Wade, Dorothy Tralongo, Patricia Dering, Cynthia Marinoff, Regina Aiello and the late George Ludington, Richard Ludington, Thomas Ludington, John Ludington, William Ludington and Edward Ludington. Brother-in-law of Victor Tralongo, Carol Ludington, Carrol Ludington and the late Mark Dering, Bob Marinoff and Jack Aiello. The visiting hours will be Wednesday, August 20th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Catholic parlor service will follow the visiting hours at 7:00 PM. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in All Saints Cemetery.
