Paul Charles Marak

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Paul Charles Marak, 43, of East Haven CT. Born on May 21, 1981 to Ann Marie Russo and Kenneth Marak of East Haven, Paul brought a bold and unforgettable presence into every room and every life he entered. He was proud of his roots in the High Ridge section of East Haven, where he formed deep, lasting connections with friends who became family. He is survived by his cherished daughter whom he was so proud of, Sage Marak, and beloved grandsons, Johnny Marak and Aiden Turner of Chesapeake, VA. He is also survived by his sister, with whom he shared a special bond, Jennifer (Erik) Reilly and his nieces whom he adored, Emma and Jillian Reilly. For 15 years he was the beloved fiancé of Nicole Corso whom he loved deeply, standing proudly as a father figure to her children, Caitlin (Joseph) Maggio, Matthew Lucibello, and Gianna Corso. Paul also leaves behind several uncles, aunts, cousins and close friends who shared his fierce loyalty and many funny memories including Alani Schaperow and Lou Giangrande. He is predeceased by his grandparents Walter and Joan Marak and Bernard and Marjorie Russo of East Haven. A graduate of East Haven High School, Class of 1999, Paul had several jobs through the years as a laborer. Most recently he was employed by Rotha as a hard-working and skilled iron-worker/laborer. Outside of work, he found his true voice as the front man for the local death metal band, Priapism, which toured the local circuit, recorded a full-length album, as well as received several write-ups and accolades from local papers. More recently, he was working on another project with his band, The Wretched Truth. Paul was also a proud member of The Stoner's Club in East Haven. Beyond music, Paul had a deep love for the Tampa Bay Buccaneer's and Detroit Tigers. He loved to cook, spend time with his best friends and family, and truly shined during the holidays being Santa and making his famous what he referred to as "Gahgootz." He also loved and cherished his cats Piggy, Molly, and Teddy. He was also often, lovingly referred to as, Pauly Boy, Waldo, Young Paul, Uncle Pauly, and Uncle Pickles, among many other nicknames. Paul's personality was as big as his heart. Known for his loud, social nature, he had a twisted sense of humor that could lighten any mood. Beneath his rough edges was a deeply caring and gentle soul, always willing to lend a hand or offer the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He will be missed beyond measure by all of those who's lives he touched. Visiting hours will be on June 13th, from 4-7pm with a service at 6:30pm at Iovanne Funeral Home, 11 Wooster Place, New Haven CT. A celebration of Paul's life will be taking place on June 14th, from 1pm-7pm at The Stoner's Club, 1455 North High St. in East Haven.
