Paul Valickus Obituary

Paul J. Valickus, 68, of Enfield, CT, passed away at his home on Saturday, August 30, 2025. Born in New Haven on May 14, 1957, he was the beloved son of the late Stanley Dominic Valickus and Eleanor Ann (Shelanskas) Valickus. Paul built a successful career in finance, earning the respect of colleagues and clients through his insight, integrity, and dedication. He pursued knowledge throughout his life-formally through his undergraduate degree at the College of the Holy Cross, his Master's degree from the Stern School of Business at NYU, and professional certifications such as the CFA; and informally through his many personal pursuits, including learning the ukulele and taking singing lessons later in life. He loved traveling, had a deep appreciation for music of all kinds-from Billy Idol to Ladysmith Black Mambazo-and was an avid reader, particularly of history. A lifelong dog lover, Paul found joy and companionship in the collies he cared for throughout his life. Paul will be remembered as a father, grandfather, brother, and friend, and for his intelligence, sense of humor, and the generosity he shared with those around him. He will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his children, Kathryn Valickus of Natick, MA; Joseph Valickus and his wife Chelsea of Darien, CT; and Mark Valickus and his wife Jillian of Hopkinton, MA. He was a proud grandfather to Nolan, Ava, Myles, and Quinn, who brought him great joy and affectionately called him "Bubba." He also leaves behind his brothers, Edward Valickus and his wife Lisa of Garden Ridge, TX, and John Valickus and his wife Kathleen of Chestnut Hill, MA, along with his beloved nieces and nephews, and many dear friends, neighbors, and colleagues. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield, CT. Three times per week I would stop by with my dog to visit with Paul and his caregiver Laura. We miss him very much.

Dear Joseph, Mark, & Katie....I'm so very sorry about your Dad. It's been awhile now but I still have some fun, crazy memories of all of us working together! Your Dad was always very proud of you all!
All the best to you, your families, and your Mom....
