Philippa Smith Obituary

Philippa Smith of Branford passed away on Saturday August 23. Known to everyone as Pippa she leaves behind her husband Philip, sister Nicola and many other relatives. She was born in Surrey, England in 1961 to Michael and Wendy Cabot and spent many of her younger years in the town of Farnham. Pippa worked as a teacher of English as a second language and later in corporate communications and administration. She lived for extended periods in France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Ireland, New Zealand and most notably for a decade in Australia. She moved to Connecticut in 2003 and to the Branford shoreline in 2011. Pippa was a keen hiker, able tennis player, horse rider, opera lover and sailboat enthusiast. Many recent summers were spent boating on the waters of New England from New York to Maine. Alongside the attributes of compassion and enthusiasm, she carried a sense of calm that could settle on those around her. A memorial service will be held at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St. Branford on Wednesday September 3rd at 12:45 P.M. Friends may call prior to the service from 12:00 – 12:45 P.M. Burial will be private.
