Raymond Courtright Obituary

Raymond "Ray" Courtright, 94, of Avon, passed away peacefully at Avon Health Center where he had resided since July of 2024. Born April 6, 1930, in Plains, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Harold & Wanda (Kozloski) Courtright. Ray attended local schools in Pennsylvania and Connecticut. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Nancy, France. After serving his country abroad, Raymond moved to Connecticut to pursue his career as a transmission specialist in the automotive sector. He spent many years working at different shops where he established his stellar reputation which preceded him in this industry. Afterwards, he opened his own business, Park City Transmissions in Bridgeport, Connecticut, which he ran with his sons until his retirement. During his retirement, Raymond enjoyed traveling with his wife and family, playing with his grandchildren - which even included rollerblading, reading his favorite books and just enjoyed his love for life on a daily basis. Raymond was the true north for his family. He made sure that everyone was taken care of, including those whom he called friends. He was a blessing to all who knew him and always helped when needed through the kindness of his heart. May he dance once again with the love of his life, Barbara. Until we meet again, he will live on in the memories that we hold dear. Raymond is survived by his daughter, Lynn (Courtright) Collins of Avon with whom he was cared for by in his final years; his sons, Stephen Courtright Sr. of Harwinton, Richard Courtright of New Haven; his grandchildren, Stephen Courtright Jr., Richard Courtright, Emma Collins and Matthew Collins; his sisters, Wanda Ferki and Betty Lou Schumacher; brother in law Leo Jacobs and wife Debra; as well as several nephews, nieces and cousins. Raymond was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Barbara J. (Przekop) Courtright; his sons Raymond "Hoss" Courtright and infant son Michael Courtright; his sister Margaret Courtright and brothers Harold Courtright Jr., Theodore Courtright and Edward Courtright; brother in laws Raymond Ferki and Ben Schumacher; sister-in-law Mary Ann Regnosky. The family would like to thank the staff of Avon Health Center and McLean Hospice for the exceptional care that they provided to Raymond. Raymond's family will receive friends on Sunday April 6, 2025, from 2-5PM at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon, CT 06001. A memorial service with full Military Honors will follow beginning at 5PM at Carmon's. Burial will be held on Monday April 7, 2025, at 11AM at St. Peter Cemetery, 236 East Pearl Road, Torrington, CT 06790.
