Richard Allen Obituary
Richard Wayne Allen, 71, of Meriden, CT passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 2,2025 at UConn Health John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington, CT after an extended illness.
Rick was a devoted husband to his wife, Suellen Christine Allen, for 48 years. He was born in Leominster, MA on March 26, 1954 to the late Mose Lafayette and Lucille Stella Allen. For most of his life, Rick resided in Meriden, CT. He attended Orville H. Platt High School earning his GED in 1973. Rick was employed by the City of Meriden Board of Education retiring after over 30 years of service. He was a veteran of the armed forces having served with the U.S. Navy. Rick was a longstanding friend of Bill W. He enjoyed visiting Shelter Island, kayaking, playing the ukulele, drum circles and especially spending time with his grandchildren and family. He N.H.I.S.G.
Rick is survived by his loving wife, Suellen and his children and their spouses Katelyn and Mark Giusti, John and Katherine (Papallo) Allen and Maggie and Ben Abela; his grandchildren Angela (Malaguti), Katlyn, Grayson and Charlotte Giusti, Kaidence Allen and Madison and Jacob Abela; his great-grandchildren Quinn and Mae Malaguti and Jamison, Raymond and Stevie-Jo Giusti.
He is also survived by his sister, Patricia Allen Nicholas of Ware, MA; sister-in-law, Geraldine Wilder, niece Deborah Richards of Leominster, MA, Angela Oaks, nephews Clayton and Kent Adams; nieces and spouses Kathy and Larry Bizzotto, Colleen and Shawn Eskola of Brewster, MA; nephews John and Cheryl Spagnola of Athol, MA; Nicholas Spagnola of Worcester, MA; niece KerryLyn Christian of Good Hope Georgia, nephew Ryan Christian of Great Barrington, MA. Jay and Debbie Grant of Charleston, NH, Kevin and Kim Grant of Meriden, CT, Terry and Robin Grant of Berlin, CT, Patricia and Robert Angiletta of Meriden, CT, Shannon Coyne of Shelter Island, NY, and Meggan and Joe DaCunto, Theresa Grant, Linda Grant and Marc and Dee Papandrea of Meriden, CT. Uncle Rick will be remembered by numerous nieces and nephews in CT.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, brothers Walter and Jack Adams of Leominster, MA; sister, Joan Adams Ferguson of Worcester, MA.
A memorial service will be held at the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext., Wallingford, CT 06492 Friday, July 11, 2025. Visitation 2PM-5PM. Funeral service will commence at 4PM at the Wallingford Funeral Home.
