Robert Carr Obituary
It is with great sorrow that the family of Robert (Bob) Garfield Carr, age 89, announces his passing on January 6, 2025. He passed peacefully in the early morning hours surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on September 8, 1935, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, the son of John and Flora (Peach) Carr. Robert was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and uncle.
Robert is survived by his brother; Ross Carr and his wife, Marie, his sister; Iris (Carr) Peet and her husband, Ken, his four beloved children, son; Harold Carr and his wife, Laurie, son; Brian Carr and his wife, Maureen, daughter; Rhonda Jerman and her husband, Keith, daughter; Cheryl King and her husband, Steven. His pride and joy were his thirteen grandchildren; Nicole, Tammie, Jacob, Robert, Michelle, Alexandria, Brittney, Morgan, Shelbie, Taylor, Brenden, Connor, and Hailey, as well as his eight great-grandchildren; Maxwell, Rylee, Madison, Bryson, Raymond, Weston, Jaxson, and Kenzie. He was a proud uncle to Kevin Carr, Marilyn (Carr) Heidebrecht, Cathy Carr, Geoff Carr, Gregg Peet, and Krista Irish. He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Joanne (Kirby) Carr, both parents, John and Flora Carr, and his siblings Vernon Carr, Frank Carr, John (Jig) Carr, Harold Carr, and Terri Carr.
Robert attended school in Halifax, after graduation from Halifax Vocational School he began his plumbing career at W.H. Walsh in Halifax before relocating to Connecticut where he began a 28-year career with Aetna Life and Casualty Company, licensed and supervising the plumbing department before retiring in 1995.
During his lifetime Robert loved hunting with family, painting, camping, fishing, and coin collecting. He enjoyed going out for an early morning coffee with his good friend Bob. Robert loved his family and his grandchildren always came first. He would lend a hand to anyone in need including neighbors and complete strangers without asking for anything in return. Robert spent the last five years living with his family in Arizona. He enjoyed playing with "his puppies", using his mechanical skills to tinker with and fix Hess trucks, making puzzles, and doing word searches. Robert lived his life on his terms until the end, leaving this earth at his son's home in Connecticut surrounded by his children and grandchildren.
There will be no visitation by request. Private graveside interment will be held at a later date at Hazardville Cemetery where he will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife of 65 years. For online expressions of sympathy, please visit www.leetestevens.com
