Robert David Clark

Robert David Clark, Col. US Air Force Retired, 82 of Avon, CT beloved husband of JoAn (Smith) Clark, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2025, after a long illness at his home. Born in New Mexico, he was raised with a traveling military family. He earned his BS from the US Air Force Academy, his MS from Auburn University, and Certificate, National Security Strategy from the National War College, Washington, DC. He served with the US Air Force for 27 years active duty including serving as a fighter pilot during the Vietnam War where he earned the Distinguished Flying Cross, Silver Star, two Purple Hearts, Presidential Unit Citation, among numerous other decorations flying F4s, B52s, and F15s. He had staff assignments including US Mission to NATO, the Pentagon, F -15 Systems Manager, and F-15 Squadron Commander. Colonel Clark's career included leadership in Saudi Arabia as well as pivotal positions for the US Air Force all over the World. He has lived in Avon since 1971. Besides his beloved wife JoAn, he leaves a son James W. Clark and his wife Tammy of Windsor; 7 grandchildren; a brother Thomas H. Clark, MD and his wife Kris of Arlington, VA. Col Clark's life will be celebrated with Full Military Honors at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA at a later date.
