Robert Hansen Obituary
Robert "Bob" Peter Hansen, 71, of Windsor, CT, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025. Born and raised in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, NY, Bob was the beloved son of Alf and Edna (Lavoie) Hansen. Bob was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his wife, Donna (Gilmour) Hansen; his daughters, Katy (Hansen) Diamond and her husband Garrett, Sarah Hansen, and Kelsey Hansen; three grandchildren, Max, Gavin, and Weston Diamond; a brother, Stephen J. Hansen and his wife Katherine; and a sister-in-law, Ellen Hansen of Bloomfield. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Paul Thomas Hansen and by a niece, Mary Beth Hansen. After college, Bob began his professional career in banking, where he met Donna Gilmour, the love of his life. The two built a beautiful partnership, marrying soon after and sharing 48 wonderful years together. Bob later found his true calling in automotive sales, where his friendly demeanor, honesty, and deep care for others made him a trusted name across Central Connecticut. He worked for many years at Wagner Ford, Morande Lincoln-Mercury-Mazda, and Manchester Mazda, where he built lasting relationships with customers and colleagues alike. From an early age, Bob showed a remarkable talent for athletics. He excelled in several sports-most notably baseball and bowling-and was named MVP of the PAL Little League. As the catcher for Xaverian High School's baseball team, he played a pivotal role in leading them to the New York City Championship. His athletic skill and dedication earned him a scholarship to Drake University in Des Moines, IA, where he continued to shine on the field. Bob's excellence and leadership earned him a place on Drake University's All-Decade Baseball Team, a testament to his enduring impact on the program. Bob will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and unwavering love for his family and friends. His kindness left a lasting impression on everyone he met, both on and off the field. He especially loved supporting his daughters at their dance recitals and cheering on his grandsons at their soccer and basketball games. His quick wit and playful nature brought laughter to every gathering, and his nieces and nephews will forever treasure the creative joking and joyful spirit that always surrounded Uncle Bob-especially during the holidays. His legacy of love and laughter will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 22, 10-11 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m., in the chapel of the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor.
