Roger A. Shanks

Roger A. Shanks, age 59, of Marion, Indiana, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at 1:07 pm on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne.
Born on November 18, 1965, in Marion, Roger was the son of Wanda (Wooldridge) Likens and the late Michael E. Shanks. He graduated from Marion High School in 1984.
On October 4, 1986, Roger married Brenda Albertson. They later divorced but were blessed with two sons, Jordan and Nathan. On September 11, 1993, Roger married Malissa Wainscott, and together they welcomed their son, Blake. Roger and Malissa shared their lives together until her passing.
Roger worked for many years as a machine adjuster at Huhtamaki, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic.
He was a proud member of Club Bingo and an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He also loved NASCAR, bowling, and celebrating Christmas-his favorite time of year.
Roger is survived by his three sons: Jordan (Cara) Shanks of Waverly, Iowa; Nathan Shanks of Marion; and Blake Shanks of Marion. He was a proud grandfather to Cayden, Lennon, Bodi, and Archie Shanks. He is also survived by his mother, Wanda (Michael) Likens, and his sister, Shelley (Michael) Moore of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Malissa Shanks; his father, Michael E. Shanks; and his brother, Michael "Mikey" E. Shanks, Jr.
Family and friends are welcome to come and celebrate Roger's life from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Club Bingo, 2301 S. Western Ave., Marion, IN.
A private, family graveside service will take place at Gardens of Memory in Marion.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
