Rosalie "Rosie" Giusti

Rosalie "Rosie" Giusti, 89 of Meriden, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on July 8th at Hartford Hospital after a brief illness surrounded by the love of her family. Rosalie was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania to the late Joseph and Rose Regalis on April 13, 1936 and graduated from Plymouth High School class of 1953. She married and moved to Meriden in 1956 where she remained for most of her life and built a legacy of love, strength, and family devotion. Rosalie retired from the State of Connecticut Department of Social Services after many years of tireless, passionate and devoted service. Helping many families to acquire assistance through difficult situations she always went the extra mile in their time of need and made a lasting impact through her compassionate work. Rosalie as a strong willed single mother raised her five children through many challenging situations with unwavering love, grit and determination. Her passion for life and her family were unmatched. Rosalie was an ever-present fixture at every sporting event, recital, graduation or any function involving her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her unmistakable voice cheering from the stands became a symbol of constant encouragement and fierce family pride. As the matriarch of the family Rosalie was happiest surrounded by her family. She was the heart of every gathering, the keeper of traditions and the one whose presence made every occasion feel like a celebration. Rosalie enjoyed dancing, playing cards, Jai a-lai and the casinos which kept her spirit lively. Her fondness for the ponies earned her the nickname "Reno Rosie" - a title she wore with pride. Rosalie's life was a beautiful testament to strength, joy and the bonds of family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Rosalie is survived by her five children: Joseph (Judy) Giusti, Paul (Maureen) Giusti, Deborah Hurst, Mark (Katelyn) Giusti and Lisa (John Arabasz) Giusti. She is also survived by her beloved sister Mary (William) Althauser. Her legacy lives on in her grandchildren: Melissa Savisky, Stephanie (Matt) Varricchio, Patrick Giusti, Kiely (Justin) Fournier, James Giusti, Carolyn Giusti, Jaye (Amanda) Hurst, Bret (Christina) Hurst, Angela (Bob) Malaguti, Katlyn (Luis Espinosa) Giusti, Grayson Giusti, Charlotte Giusti, Mychal (Ali) Arabasz and Kyle Arabasz. She is the proud great-grandmother of: Carter and Jace Varricchio, Theodore Fournier, Joel and Rosie Hurst, Quinn and Mae Malaguti, Jamison, Raymond and Stevie-Jo Giusti and KJ Arabasz. Rosalie's family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, from 4pm to 7pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 4:30pm. Interment will be private.
