Rose Shaw Obituary

Rose Marie (Cappiello) Shaw, 94 beloved wife of the late William R Shaw passed away Friday, July 11, 2025. Born June 7, 1931 to Mary (Seriano) and Nicholas Cappiello, she was the oldest of 5 children whose siblings Michael Cappiello, Josephine (Cappiello) Wedge, Phyllis (Cappiello) Reyor and Nicholas Cappiello Jr. all predeceased her. Rose Marie was a longtime resident of Glastonbury where in the early 60s she was a switchboard Operator in town. She got a real kick out of the work but decided it was more important to be at home where she would devote her life to her seven children and extended family. She was an avid reader, her favorite subjects were medical health, cooking recipes and gardening. Her healthy lifestyle was evident by never being on prescription medications into her 90s. Her greatest hobby was gardening, flowers and vegetables of every sort. At 4'11" her vegetable gardens were not only large in acreage but stood taller than she was, making for a nice photo spot in the Glastonbury Citizen in the 70s. Rose Marie loved seasonal canning, preparing healthy meals for her family all year long. Never was a visitor; family or guest, greeted at her door without the words, "come on now, have something to eat". Warm meals were always ready in her oven and if a bite was declined, she always offered a cup of tea. She was known by family and those who loved her as a sweet, humble, loving kind and hospitable person who loved bunnies and frogs. Her greatest love of all was her family. Rose Marie is survived by 7 children: Cheryl (Shaw) aka Lynn Forest and her partner Brynn Cox of Priest River, ID; Kathleen (Shaw) Pace and her husband Giuseppe Pace of Conway, SC; William Shaw and his wife Katrinka of East Haddam, CT; Wayne Shaw now or formerly of South Windsor, CT; David Shaw and his fiancée Sharon Fox of Columbia, CT; Timothy Shaw and his wife Wendy of Andover, CT and Robin (Shaw) Holowaty and her husband Alexander Holowaty of Hebron, CT. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. There will be no calling hours. The Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home has care of the arrangements.
