Roslyn Arkin Obituary

SOUTHBURY - Roslyn Arkin passed away on Sunday, June 8th, 2025, at her home in Southbury. She was born on April 22, 1943 in New Haven, CT to loving parents, the late Estelle and Louis Banks, former director of Camp Kenico in Kent, CT. She grew up in Middle Village and Forest Hills, Queens in New York City.
Roslyn earned a bachelor's degree in art history from Queens College in 1964. She went on to work as a jewelry designer at prestigious firms such as Cartier, and Winard in New York. Roz continued to work in sales within the fashion and jewelry industries for many years. She sold retail advertising in the late 1990's and eventually branched out on her own with Aglow Enterprises.
Roslyn loved jewelry, as well as fashion, art, furniture, fabrics, glassware, sewing, collecting bric-a-brac and shopping. She loved taking photographs on her tablet, mostly of birds and flowers, and had a real artist's eye for it. She was also quite a talented sketch artist. She enjoyed cooking and constantly experimented with new recipes, but loved going out as well, especially for prime rib. She had a great variety of records spanning over half a century, including jazz, pop, soft rock, soul, and classical. Roz had great taste and sophistication.
Roslyn was a devoted single parent to David, and inspired in him a great appreciation of the arts for him. She developed great strength, optimism, resilience, and positivity over the years. She was a kind-hearted person, who was dynamic, intelligent, and independent. A colorful character to those who knew her, and will be sorely missed.
Roslyn is survived by her son David Arkin, and her cousins. Her sister Wendy Banks, formerly of Roxbury CT, passed away in 2008.
A visitation for Roslyn will be held from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM, on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main Street South in Southbury, CT, with a memorial service held at 11:30 AM. Interment will be private.
