Rudolf Baran

Rudolf "Rudy" Baran, 83, of Wethersfield, husband to the love of his life, Mary Lou (Miele) Baran, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 11, 2025 with his family by his side. He was born on February 11, 1942 in Cologne, Germany to the late Bogdan and Margaret (Rothkamp) Baran. Rudy immigrated to the U.S. in 1954 and graduated from New Britain High School in 1960. He was a proud U.S. Air Force Veteran who honorably served in Vietnam. Rudy had an incredible work ethic. He was a private pilot, owned two Texaco gas stations and retired from AH Harris. He loved maintaining his yard and going to the casinos. He was an avid Red Sox and NY Giants fan. Above all, what Rudy loved the most was spending time with his family, especially his beloved Mary Lou. Aside from his wife, Rudy will also be missed by his children, Jason Baran and his wife Robin of Marlborough, Stacy Baran of Wethersfield, and his granddaughters, Taylor, Jayna and Grace Baran. He also leaves a brother, Leo Rothkamp of Germany, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Patricia and Jerry Knislis, and brother-in-law Paul Miele, as well as many close friends, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family in the United States and Germany. He is pre-deceased by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Angela and Subby Gattinella, Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025 from 10:00 am to 12 noon at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road, Wethersfield. A Memorial Service honoring Rudy will follow in the funeral home at 12 noon. Burial to follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 453 Fairfield Avenue, Hartford.
