Samuel Plourde Obituary

WATERBURY Samuel P. Plourde Sr. "Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather & brother" Samuel P. Plourde Sr., 81, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, May 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He has been reunited in heaven with his beloved children and grandson. Sam was the devoted husband of Geraldine (Wisniewski) Plourde, with whom he shared over 63 wonderful years of marriage. Born in Oakville, CT on August 12, 1943, Sam was the son of the late Leonide and Leontine (Cabot) Plourde. At just eighteen, he married the love of his life, and together they built a close-knit family grounded in love and resilience. Sam spent much of his early career working for several of Waterbury's brass companies, including Century Brass, Scovill Manufacturing, Bristol Brass, Anaconda Brass, and Somers Brass. Later, he joined Quinnipiac University, where he began as a custodian and steadily advanced to groundskeeper, then mechanic, eventually earning the title of Master Mechanic after 25 years of dedicated service. A humble and hardworking man, Sam enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. He loved fishing, but more than anything, he cherished time at home with his family. He was especially devoted to his grandchildren, whom he helped raise. Known for his mechanical skills and generous heart, Sam was always ready to lend a hand-whether fixing a car or offering support to those in need. In addition to his wife Geraldine of Waterbury, Sam leaves behind his daughter, Lisa Perugini of Wolcott; his sister, Barbara Eichman of Naugatuck; and his grandsons, Michael Perugini Jr. and Jordan Perugini, and his great granddaughter, Vivanna Dooley. He will also be missed by his beloved dog, Haylee, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his children, Samuel P. Plourde Jr., Christine Plourde, and Sandra Plourde; his grandson, Daniel Thaddeus Plourde; and his siblings, Lionel Plourde, Leonide Plourde Jr., Priscilla McIsaac, Katherine Wesley, Cecile Rowell, and Patricia LaFaueci. Arrangements: A graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Old Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury. There will be no calling hours. Chase Parkway Memorial, The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, has been entrusted with Sam's funeral arrangements.
